Auction Thefts Ohio "1907 High Relief"

On September 24 and September 27,2016 thefts occurred at two different locations in Ohio. Both offenses involved coins being stolen during auction lot viewing at estate sales.

Leipsic, Ohio A person of interest in the theft of a 1907 $20 St. Gaudens high relief PCI MS65 2012.02/10722 has been identified as Devon Ohara out of Michigan. The subject was seen leaving in a white pick up truck. The value of the coin stolen was estimated at $15,000.

Bryan, Ohio A person of interest in the theft of a 1924 St. Gaudens NGC MS64 123246-025 has been identified as a Michael Devon using a Michigan drivers license as identification. The value of the coin stolen was estimated at $1400.

The subject may be accompanied by a white female.

Burglary Grove Coin Company, MN

On September 1, 2016 a smash and grab burglary occurred at Grove Coin Company in Woodbury, MN.

The following coins were stolen:

About 1,000 pieces of Seated Liberty coinage … half dimes, dimes, quarters, Halves. All Fair to VG

500 U.S. Large Cents Ag to light cull, cleaned, etc.

50 U.S. Half Cents 1804-1857 cull-fine

One Chinese Dragon Dollar XF, Bolivia 8R 1821 XF (weak strike)

Walking Liberty Half Dollar sorter with partial rolls of every date from 1916 to 1942 including all the keys.

Recovered Coins Fort Worth Police Department

Investigators with the Fort Worth, Texas Police Department are requesting assistance in locating a victim of a possible theft or residential burglary that involved the loss of a large collection of coins. Officers were dispatched to a residential area and arrested two suspects. The coins were located upon inventory of their vehicle. Both suspects show to be from the Fort Worth area but may have traveled to surrounding states.

The coins included a partial set of Bust half dollars, type coins, gold coins, silver bullion and several slabbed coins.

Houston Dealer Victim of Vehicle Burglary

A Houston, Texas dealer was the victim of a vehicle burglary that resulted in the loss of over $20,000 in coins. The victim had picked up the coins from his bank and was en-route to a numismatic event. When the victim stopped for just a few minutes leaving his vehicle unattended, unknown suspects smashed the windows and removed the coins.

The following coins were stolen:

Dealer Victim of Vehicle Burglary San Diego,CA

A dealer,who had left the recent Long Beach Show, was the victim of a vehicle burglary when he stopped in a residential area in San Diego and left his vehicle unattended in a driveway for approximately 10-15min. Approximately $40,000 in slabbed coins was taken.

$80,000 Loss After Dalton Show

Thomas Gintz ,owner, of A&E Coins in Dover,Ohio was traveling home after the Dalton show and was the victim of a vehicle burglary that occurred in Lenoir City, TN. Stolen was approximately $80,000 in coins and cash.
