On September 15, 2025 NCIC sent out an alert on a USPS registered package that was reported lost/stolen while enroute from Missouri to Florida. A Florida dealer contacted NCIC and advised that a subject recently sold him notes that were listed on the alert and was returning to sell more that same afternoon. NCIC contacted a USPS Postal Inspector in Florida and coordinated the investigation between the dealer and inspector.

Due to the quick actions of the Florida dealer, NCIC, Postal OIG Inspectors and several currency dealers the suspect (a postal employee) was identified and property valued in excess of six figures was recovered. The investigation is on-going.

The success of this case is due to the coordinated efforts by all parties involved.
