SUSPECT ARRESTED

On May 6, 2025 the Numismatic Crime Information Center sent out an alert on the request of the Vienna, VA police department in reference to a $30,000 theft of gold Krugerrands that occurred at a coin show in Vienna, VA on April 27, 2025. The suspects were identified as a male and female in their late 40’s. The suspect vehicle was a white Ford Explorer driven by a third suspect. The alert included suspect and vehicle photos.

Detectives with the Vienna, VA police department advised NCIC that on 5/17/25 the Lynchburg, VA police department arrested a subject identified as Casian Sava (Romanian National) outside a coin show at the Jordan Baptist Church in Lynchburg after he was recognized by another dealer. The dealer notified an off duty Deputy Sheriff working security. Sava, who was there with a female was confronted and both attempted to flee. The female escaped in a white Ford Explorer, but Sava was captured after a foot pursuit. Further investigation revealed Sava was wanted in four different states. The white Ford Explorer was used in both coin show offenses. The investigation is on-going. Sava remains in custody.
